No Ribbons allowed!

At Monday's NGMS softball game I learned a very important rule: the first baseman (and any other player) cannot wear ribbons in her hair while playing softball. I think I know why....

TOP TEN REASONS SOFTBALL PLAYERS CAN'T WEAR RIBBONS IN THEIR HAIR

10. Well, there was that rare case in 1972 where a player suffered death by ribbon strangulation while looking up to catch a pop fly in right field.

9. (Along with this thought) Umpires consider ribbons as potential weapons of use against them when they make a bad call!

8. Ribbons can possibly twist in the wind like propellers to levitate the player into the air like Mary Poppins.

7. There just isn't enough agility training to teach a player how to stay upright when running with a fallen-out ribbon twisted around her ankles.

6. Ribbons flying in the air confuse umps into thinking it's a flag football game.

5. Ribbons are a problem because how many time-outs can you ask for to re-tie in your ribbon, for real.

4. If ribbons were allowed, girls with short hair would suffer ribbon discrimination.

3. Ribbons blowing in the wind offer runners an unfair "drafting" effect.

2. All girls, same uniforms, pony tails and ribbons....it's just too confusing for the umps!

1. Geez, ladies, it's softball...not cheerleading
